Sýningin New European Bauhaus í íslensku samhengi er sprottin upp úr vinnustofu Grænni byggðar og Arkitektafélags Íslands sem haldin var í júní 2025 til að kanna hvernig hægt væri að aðlaga eina áhrifamestu stefnusetningu síðustu ára innan evrópsks arkitektúrs að íslenskum aðstæðum.

Sýningargestum gefst einstakt tækifæri að kynnast framtakinu New European Bauhaus (NEB), sem framkvæmdastjórn Evrópusambandsins hleypti af stokkunum árið 2021, út frá eigin umhverfi og upplifunum.

NEB er innblásið af þverfaglegri og samvinnumiðaðari nálgun Bauhaus skólans og er ætlað að gera Græna sáttmálann (The European Green Deal) „áþreifanlegan,” ánægjulegan, heillandi og hagnýtan fyrir öll og sameina félagslega og menningarlega þætti hönnunar og arkitektúrs við tækni sem leggur áherslu á umhverfismál.

Hægt er að nálgast meiri upplýsingar um hlutverk arkitektúrs og byggingargeirans í að skapa sjálfbæra framtíð og heilbrigðara samfélag á vefsíðu Grænnar byggðar.

The exhibition New European Bauhaus in an Icelandic Context stems from a workshop organised by The Green Building Council Iceland and the Association of Icelandic Architects, held in June 2025, which explored how one of the most influential architectural movements in recent European history could be adapted to Icelandic conditions.

Visitors to the exhibition are offered a unique opportunity to learn about the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative, launched by the European Commission in 2021, through the lens of their own environment and experiences.

NEB is inspired by the interdisciplinary and collaborative approach of the original Bauhaus school and aims to translate the European Green Deal into a language of tangible change – one that is enjoyable, appealing, and practical for all, merging the social and cultural dimensions of design and architecture with technology centred on environmental concerns.
